Remembering Dave McCleland

David E. McCleland, 37, of Nazareth, died June 7, 2008 in his home. Dave left this world peacefully in the loving arms of his family and friends. He and his wife, the former Andi Sandt, were married March 23, 2007. Dave was a probation officer in Lehigh County for the past 10 years. He was born July 16, 1970 in Abington, he was a son of R. Edward McCleland Jr. of Lansdale and the late Joy (Bethard) McCleland. He was a 1988 graduate of Quakertown High School and a 1992 graduate of Shippensburg University. Dave was a firearms instructor for Lehigh County. He was an avid fisherman. Dave was a speedboat racer on the Susquehanna River. Survivors: In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by two brothers, Brent of Quakertown, Mark of San Francisco, Calif. Services: 1 p.m. Thursday, St. Johns Lutheran Church, 200 South Broad St, Nazareth, PA, (610-759-3090. Calling hours 10 a.m. until time of services in the church. Sunbury 2008 Race Update

Hello Everyone,
Race insurance has been obtained for June 29 in Sunbury! We have been battling many obstacles, but this was make-or-break, and we are now good to go. So, now it's up to us, racers, members, volunteers, to step up and make this race happen. We can keep drag boat racing alive for DVBRC but we need your help. There are many positions for the race that need to be filled, and we need all of our racers to come out to support the club. Another issue is the cost of insurance. Since we do not have a sponsor lined up for the race, we are looking for volunteers to organize fund raisers, to offset the cost of insurance. We are trying to keep the registration fees as low as possible. We have not collected membership fees this year because of the tentativeness of the racing program, and since we had to cancel races in 2007. But without sponsors, the burden falls on the members if we cannot raise funds elsewhere. Please give serious consideration and get involved in a fund raiser, and contact the President if you can get something going. The club will support your fund raising efforts any way it can, newsletter, web site post, etc.
