DVBRC Organizational and Membership Information

Club membership is $50.00 yearly, with a $10.00 discount if paid before the new year begins. Day memberships are available at each race for a reduced fee. Send an e-mail if you'd like to join. All members receive a Rule Book, a monthly newsletter, and a ticket for two to the annual Awards Banquet. Club meetings are held on the last Thursday of every month at the United German Hungarian Club, 4668 Bristol Road, Oakford, PA.

As an amateur club, admission to all races is free, and all work at the races (and in between) is on a volunteer basis. As such, helpers and volunteers are encouraged and appreciated. Many members enjoy the social aspects of the club, or help as volunteers to be part of the action. Race helpers and volunteers need not be paid members, but we sure encourage it. Volunteers are needed for course layout, patrol boats, and the numerous activities required to put on a race. If you would like to volunteer, just come to a meeting and we'll set you up. You may wind up with a great view of the race!

Hardt-March Award

The Hardt-March Award was established in 1999 to honor the memory of two former club members, Ralph Hardt and Bruce March, whose lives embodied the sport of drag boat racing. The award is presented annually to the person or team who most exemplifies their dedication to the sport of drag boat racing. Here is a history of the winners:

1999: The Racing Team of Bud "Papa Bear" Verrall and his son, Richard.
2000: The family of Paul Evans, wife Toni, and sons, Josh, Chad, and Troy.
2001: DVBRC Vice President Bob Backert
2002: DVBRC Secretary Ed Becker
